1. Introduction to Camovue Smart Detection
Camovue’s smart detection technology goes beyond traditional motion detection. Combining edge-based AI with cloud intelligence can differentiate between people, vehicles, and various animals. This advanced capability minimizes false alarms caused by wind, branches, or other non-essential movements, ensuring you’re only alerted to meaningful activity. Cloud AI takes it a step further, identifying specific species and adding detailed tags to your photos and videos, while seamlessly uploading them to the cloud.
2. Step-by-Step Guide to Setting Up Smart Detection
Tap the Settings icon of the camera on the Camovue App and you will find the Alarm settings including PIR settings, Motion Capture, and Push. We will introduce how these work one by one.
Set up PIR Settings
Tap the PIR Settings and enable the PIR Detection. There are three setting options: Sensitivity, Trigger Interval, and Schedule.
-
Sensitivity
The PIR (Passive Infrared) sensor enables precise motion detection by responding to heat signatures. Adjusting the sensor's sensitivity helps you tailor its performance to your specific environment.
High Sensitivity: Best for detecting smaller or more distant wildlife. Use this setting in areas with minimal background movement to ensure even subtle motions are captured.
Medium Sensitivity: A balanced option for environments with moderate activity. Ideal for detecting medium-sized animals while reducing the chance of false alarms caused by minor disturbances.
Low Sensitivity: Designed to minimize false alarms in areas with frequent natural movements, such as swaying branches, tall grass, or busy backgrounds.
Selecting the right sensitivity ensures that your Camovue camera captures the moments that matter most while avoiding unnecessary alerts. Adjust the setting through the Camovue app based on your monitoring needs.
- Trigger Interval
The trigger interval feature ensures that your Camovue camera balances responsiveness with efficiency. When continuous motion is detected within a short timeframe, this setting determines how frequently the camera will trigger alerts or capture images/videos.
How it Works: After the first motion-triggered event, the camera will wait for the specified interval before triggering another event, even if the motion persists.
Customizable Options: Select from intervals as short as 30 seconds to as long as 4 hours, or choose "Unlimited" to receive alerts for every detected motion with no pause.
This feature allows you to capture what matters most without being overwhelmed by excessive notifications or redundant recordings, giving you full control over your monitoring experience.

PIR Detection Schedule
Camovue allows you to customize a PIR detection schedule so that the camera operates according to your specific needs. This ensures that smart detection and alerts occur only during your designated periods.
How to Set Up the Schedule:
Access the Schedule Settings: Tap PIR Settings under the Alarm Settings section, then tap Schedule.
*Selecting Active Hours:
1. Click the Brush Icon (located in the lower-left corner).
2. On the schedule grid, each row represents a day (e.g., Monday, Tuesday), and each column represents one hour of the day. Click on the desired time blocks to turn them green, indicating that the PIR sensor will actively monitor and send alerts during these hours.
3. Quick Tip: Use the Select All button (in the lower-right corner) to make all the time blocks green, enabling detection for all hours of every day.
*Removing Active Hours:
1. Click the Eraser Icon (next to the brush icon).
2. On the schedule grid, click on the green time blocks to turn them black, indicating that the PIR sensor will not operate during those hours.
3. Quick Tip: Use the Erase All button to quickly turn all the time blocks black, disabling PIR detection completely.
Set up Motion Capture
Motion Capture enables your Camovue camera to automatically take snapshots and record videos whenever motion is detected, ensuring you can capture and review key moments. Both snapshots and video recordings are saved locally on the SD card. And they will be uploaded to the cloud for convenient access (if you subscribe to the Camovue cloud), providing flexibility and security for your wildlife monitoring.
Note: Please ensure the PIR Detection Schedule is properly configured before enabling Motion Capture.
-
Camera Images
This feature allows the camera to take snapshots when motion is detected. Follow these steps to set it up:
1. Enable Snapshots: Navigate to Alarm Settings > Motion Capture. Toggle the switch next to Camera Images to enable the snapshot feature.
2. Select the Number of Snapshots: Under Camera Images, tap Numbers of Snapshots. Choose how many snapshots to take for each motion event.
-
Camera Recording
This feature enables your camera to record video clips whenever motion is detected. Here’s how to set it up:
1. Enable Video Recording: Go to Alarm Settings > Motion Capture. Toggle the switch next to Camera Recording to activate video recording.
2. Select the Video Length: Under Camera Recording, click Video Length. Choose the desired recording duration for each motion detection event.
Enable Push/Alarm Notifications
Toggle the switch next to Push under Alarm Settings to enable the camera to send the notification when the PIR is triggered.
Please ensure that the PIR Detection Schedule is properly configured as the camera will not send notifications if the PIR detection is off.
3. Tips to Optimize Your Camovue Camera Performance
Positioning: Place the camera in a location with minimal obstruction for the PIR sensor. Avoid areas with direct sunlight or reflective surfaces.
Regular Maintenance: Clean the camera lens and PIR sensor regularly to maintain accuracy and clarity.
Firmware Updates: Keep your camera’s firmware updated to access the latest features and improvements. How to Upgrade the Firmware for Camovue Camera Online
Cloud Playback: Use species recognition tags on the Camovue cloud to quickly locate specific footage.
Tap Detection Type on the top of the Gallery page on the Camovue App, you can quickly locate recordings by tags, including person, vehicle, animal, and species, streamlining the review process.
Setting up smart detection for your Camovue camera is a straightforward process that can significantly enhance your monitoring capabilities. By fine-tuning the PIR sensor, enabling alarm notifications, and leveraging cloud storage, you can create a highly effective and reliable surveillance system. Take the time to optimize these settings and follow best practices to get the most out of your Camovue camera.
